POP UP LAB 2021

POP UP Lab 2021 offered artists support and mentorship to further their practice, while allowing them to build meaningful longstanding relationships with THE COLLECTIVE. We look forward to supporting more artists in 2022 and beyond.

2021 PARTICIPANTS

“The support from the team at POP UP made it clear that the group were open and contactable across the time together and the eagerness to answer questions, respond, collaborate, and connect, made it an experience that was both fun and informative. I feel like the sense of community created across the programme meant I felt supported to ask questions to other artists. I think that might have been the most impactful element of the programme. Often with programmes like this mentors seem slightly more intimidating or less reachable, so the access to assistance both physically in the lab space and online really left me feeling supported for the duration of my time with the POP UP Lab.”

“Perhaps I feel more like a theatre-maker now than I did at the start.Being a part of Pop Up helped me to feel legitimised as an artist right from the get go. From the way we were treated, to the way we were heard, to the way we were spoken to. That, I have to say, felt so refreshing.I found the mentors were incredibly generous in sharing little tips that before felt like secrets.I would absolutely recommend Pop Up. Purely because of how much I got from it. Not only in terms of money and development time, but mainly because of the relationships I forged.”

“For the past couple of years my process has been quite solitary, writing at home or in cafes etc. Now I feel for sure that a collaborative process, bouncing ideas with other artists is of particular benefit to me. This is something that hit home over the past couple of weeks, working with the guys at Pop up lab.”
